Hello,
I have set up a meeting at the RMSC in the Cunningham House Conference Room, for Thursday evening September 29th at 7:00 P.M.
The Goal is to connect our 40+ RES Volunteer STEM Coaches to Teachers, with the support of their Administrators, from 17 Rochester-area Schools that have shown an interest in the Rochester Engineering Society STEM Bridges Initiative.
Schools that had volunteers working last year:
Location # Volunteers (‘15/16) # volunteers requested (‘16/17)
RCSD School #3 STEM Magnet Corn Hill 5 9 Needed
Edison Tech HS Emerson St 2 No Tech Offerings

Many of the coaches who worked this year just ended, will be on hand to answer questions. This is to be a working session where we hope to create connections and schedule initial STEM Support visits. We now have 11 volunteers who have experience as STEM Coaches. Our offer still stands to accompany all first-time volunteers (for perhaps a couple sessions) to “Break the Ice” on what it means to be a STEM Classroom-visitation Volunteer. Please take us up on that offer, and recognize that even with 11 Coach Tutors, this start-up effort may continue into November and December. That gentle build-up may be helpful for Teachers, Coaches and Coach Tutors.
One last note, Nydia Rodriguez, Director of Strategic Partnerships, Office of School Innovation, RCSD, has approved, and the RES has signed, a 20 Year Memo of Agreement allowing Volunteer STEM Coaches from the Rochester Engineering Society to serve in RCSD Schools.
Please attend this meeting, please also consider recruiting a new Classroom Visitation STEM Coach Candidate to bring with you, and Thank you,
Jon Kriegel
