Seethamma Dhurjaty was a wife, mother and grandmother who strongly encouraged underserved women to be educated. She started by encouraging the daughter of a housemaid to finish High School. This young woman grew up to be an entrepreneur (owns two houses) and both of her daughters obtained Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering.

For several years the Dhurjaty family has given students attending IIT Bombay, Mumbai, in India, a named scholarship for Seethamma Dhurjaty to be given to a deserving woman. In 2024, the family decide they would like to give back to their current community by having RES administer the scholarship.
