STOCKS, SECURITIES & ASSETS As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, gifts to RES are considered charitable donations and you can use this strategy to increase the value of your donation while removing appreciated investments from your portfolio. By donating an investment directly, you can remove the full value of the investment from your portfolio without realizing any taxable gains. An example: Suppose you want to donate $5,000 to RES. If you sell assets at that amount, you might generate $500 in taxable gains. Those gains would be due the when you file your taxes. However, if you donate securities, you can gift the full $5,000 without generating any taxable gains. This strategy is a great way to achieve you charitable gifting goals while making the most of your resources and having minimal impact on your “everyday” spending and cash flow. Please contact your broker or financial advisor for the necessary form to process your gift. For the RES General Fund information, contact us at Dennis.roote@cde-pllc.com RES is not a tax advisor. We encourage you to work with a tax professional to ensure this is an appropriate strategy for your goals. |
